The new Holden Astra lands in Australian dealerships next month with a full five-star ANCAP safety score.
ANCAP telling us the models Euro NCAP score would carry across to the Australian sold Astra, albeit the safety rating only applies to the upper-spec RS and RS-V variants of the five-door hatch.
These model grades come with autonomous emergency braking (AEB) and lane support systems (LSS) as standard.
The entry-level Astra R is unrated, however an extra $1,000 will get you the safety features to ensure your Astra is as safe as possible, the only issue here is that this pack won’t become available until March next year.
ANCAP CEO James Goodwin said the five-star safety score for the new Holden Astra gives small car buyers another safe offering to consider.
“Structurally, the Astra performed well across the range of tests. Pedestrian protection also rated as ‘Good’.
“The bumper test area scored maximum points for its protection of pedestrians’ legs with good results seen at all test points.
“Protection provided to the pelvic region was also good.”
