2017 Ford Transit range launched in Australia

Update brings new engine and auto transmission to Transit, Transit Custom…

It’s a consistently good sales performer for Ford Australia and now the Ford Transit range has welcomed a significant 2017 update.

The biggest change is the introduction of a new Euro-6 compliant 125kW/405Nm 2.0 litre EcoBlue petrol engine.

The new engine replaces the previous 2.2 litre engine and delivers up to a 10% improvement in power and 5% lift in torque.

While just as importantly for operators, fuel economy is improved by up to 11% and the new engine enjoys extended service intervals of 12 months/30,000km (up from 15,000km).

The new engine also comes with a first for the Transit/Transit Custom – an auto transmission.

The six-speed automatic transmission is as a big bonus for van buyers according to Ford boss, Graeme Whickman.

“The automatic variant for Transit and Transit Custom widens our small business opportunities and expands consideration to include large fleet and Government buyers.”

While other changes coming in the updated Ford Transit include:

  • Significantly expanded paint colour options (up to 100 colours available)
  • Inclusion of SYNC3 in 350L FWD/Automatic variants
  • Availability of new optional City Nav Pack in 350L FWD/Automatic variants
  • Standard fitment of new Side Wind Stabilisation technology

The updated Ford Transit range is now available from Ford dealerships with prices starting from $39,690 (Transit Custom) and $47,680 (Transit).
