2016 sees sales drop for Light Buses in Australia

Sales down in both seat categories for light buses…

2016 was a difficult for vehicle manufacturers competing in the light bus segment.

VFACTS data shows sales in the Under 20 Seat category fell by 8.1%, while sales in the Over 20 Seat category also retreated 4.0% in 2016.

In total, 2,584 of the lower capacity buses were delivered to customers in the year, down from 2,811 in 2015.

The larger capacity segment attracted 582 customers, down from 606 the year before.

While the market leaders, Toyota HiAce and Mitsubishi Rosa both suffered sales declines – 19.9% and 2.1% respectively.

December also maintained the trend with sales down 13.7% in the Under 20 Seat category and 7.2% in the Over 20 Seat segment.
