V12 biturbo Mercedes-AMG Cabriolet to arrive next year.
If you want to get the wind in your hair and hear the distinctive grumble of a V12 engine too, Mercedes-Benz has the perfect tonic for coming in mid-2016.
Say hello to the new 2016 Mercedes-AMG S65 Cabriolet. Just revealed in all its glory for the first time overnight, under the bonnet is a 463kW/1000Nm 6.0‑litre V12 biturbo engine!
The new V12 flagship model in the S-Class range is expected to arrive in Australia in 2016.
Mercedes-AMG tell us the S65 Cabriolet sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.1 seconds and will feature a top speed of 250 km/h (electronically limited). An AMG Driver’s package will also be offered with an electronically limited top speed of 300 km/h.
Transferring all that power and torque from the 12-cylinder engine will be a 7-speed AMG SPEEDSHIFT transmission. While Mercedes-Benz tell us the cabriolet body has been to meet the same standards of rigidity as the coupe.
Tobias Moers, Chairman of Mercedes-AMG GmbH, says the 2016 Mercedes-AMG S65 Cabriolet is set to become a classic.
“The customer base for our V12 biturbo engine expects the ultimate in every respect. That is why we are offering a four-seater high-performance convertible with this legendary power unit for the first time.
“The new S 65 Cabriolet sets benchmarks for all relevant criteria: top performance, a breathtaking driving experience and exquisite appointments.”
