New Mazda MX-5 Roadster is Japan’s Car of the Year.
The new 2016 Mazda MX-5 has just been named the 2015-2016 Car of the Year.
Fresh from being recognized as one of the best new models on the market in the annual Car and Driver 10Best list, the new-generation Mazda MX-5 has taken the keenly sought after Car of the Year Award presented by the Japan Automotive Hall of Fame (JAHFA).
The Mazda MX-5 is now the sixth Mazda to take out the award, the Mazda2 being the most recent winner last year.
Now available in Australia with a more powerful 2.0 litre SKYACTIV engine (joining the standard 1.5 engine), the Mazda MX-5 is priced from $31,990.
Masamichi Kogai, President and CEO of Mazda, welcomed the Japanese award.
“This result is thanks to everyone’s enthusiastic support, and we are both grateful and proud that our Roadster has received such a prestigious award,”
“Inspired by this win, we will continue building cars that offer driving pleasure, aiming to become a ‘one-and-only’ for our customers that they will choose again and again.”
