2016 Ford Focus Titanium Review

We road test and review the Ford Focus Titanium

After a second week in the Ford Focus, the hatchback is starting to grow on me. This round I had the upper spec 2016 Ford Focus Titanium.

Last week’s base model Focus Trend already raised my eyebrow so I was looking forward to what more the Titanium had to offer.

Both sit on either side of the Ford Focus Sport with prices ranging from $24,390 to $32,690 before on road costs.

Naturally, the Titanium is essentially the same under the skin, aside from additional features, with the 1.5 litre turbo petrol engine under the bonnet developing 132 kW and 240Nm and a six-speed automatic transmission.

The drive and power remain the unchanged, delivering smooth, responsive handling and reasonable acceleration for painless overtaking.

The main distinction is the variance in suspension with a sports suspension outfit installed providing a tight and solid, though firmer, ride. Also contributing to this are the larger 18” alloy wheels.

Though possessing the same drivetrain, fuel economy came out better at 7.8 L/100km with quite a bit of highway driving. An auto start/stop function is also there to help with limiting consumption.

Driver aids and safety are another advancement, fitted with a compliment of active park assist, driver impairment monitor, lane keep assist and optional lane departure warning which was on the car I tested.

A few small modifications can be found the exterior starting with a top spoiler, body coloured side skirts, LED taillights, LED DRLs, and folding, heated mirrors with puddle lamps.

The interior is unpretentious but not unsightly with good design and finish.

Cabin comfort is improved in the Focus Titanium over the lower specs models with leather trim seats and a powered driver’s seat.

There’s push button start with keyless entry, dual zone climate control and cup holders in the rear centre armrest.

A highlight which I have to mention are the audio controls that stand out of the centre dash.

The volume knob sits in the middle of a circular control pad making navigation very easy and not to mention it looks good.

Functional, attractive with an acceptable range of features, the 2016 Ford Focus Titanium is one I’d happily sit inside of any day of the week.
