2016 Citroën DS 5 launched

Citroën brings the new 2016 DS 5 to Australia.

DS is the luxury of Citroën and the 2016 Citroën DS 5 is the latest in what will be a six model line up.

This new DS 5 has arrived in Australia and sports a new grille with the DS wing design, DS branding and chrome highlights.

Citroën has settled on just one variant, a more powerful and efficient diesel drivetrain, with sales figures in recent years proving it to be the more popular option.

The new 2.0L turbo diesel engine delivers 133kW and 400Nm and comes with a six-speed automatic transmission for a starting price of $56,990

In addition to features in the old model, the new version boasts a 7” touchscreen with digital radio, reversing camera, LED headlights and DRLs, LED fog lamps, blind spot monitoring and 18” alloys.

Optional extras like 19” Cairns alloys will set you back another $2000, leather trim $2700, while premium and pearlescent paint will cost $800 and $1000 respectively.

The French maker is also offering a special 60th anniversary edition, a $3000 pack that includes the 19” gold colour alloys, leather trim, premium paint, Denon sound system, and DS exterior highlights.

And being a Citroën, the DS 5 also has a 6 year unlimited km warranty; the second best behind Kia.

DS brand CEO Yves Bonnefont says the new model revives the tradition of French premium vehicles.

“The DS 5 is more than just a new car; it is the car that introduces our brand identity.”
