2016-17 Volkswagen Golf cars recalled over tyre issue

Just over 400 Volkswagen Golf vehicles affected by recall…

A possibly dangerous issue has been identified in regards to the tyre placards fitted to some Volkswagen Golf vehicles.

A recall of a total of 411 MY16/MY17 Volkswagen Golf cars has been initiated to correct the issue with the action being overseen by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC).

The recall notice advises that certain Volkswagen Golf models of a limited production period may have tyre placard labels displaying the wrong specifications for the vehicle.

What are the hazards?

A wheel and tyre combination may inadvertently be fitted to the vehicle that does not meet the vehicle requirements.

This may affect the handling of the vehicle, causing a possible safety risk to the vehicle occupants and other road users.

Affected Volkswagen Golf owners will be contacted by direct mail and asked to visit their preferred Volkswagen authorised dealer to have the correct tyre label fitted.
