2015 Proves Tesla Motors Best Year Yet - the dynamic new Tesla Model X is expected to significantly boost Tesla sales in 2016.

Tesla Motors has reported its best sales figures ever with 2015 Tesla electric car sales topping 50,000 units for the year.

Confirmed this morning by Tesla Motors CEO Elon Musk, Tesla finished the year amidst a sales purple patch with 17,400 deliveries of its battery cars in the final quarter of the year, including a handful of the new Model X SUVs.

Tesla’s final quarter car sales total was 75% more than the same quarter in 2014.

With the new Model X SUV being added to the mix in greater numbers this year, and as many as 25,000 orders already lodged for the model, 2016 is expected to set an impressive new record sales total for the electric car company.

Mr Musk told reporters overnight that the companies goal was to increase production at the Tesla plant in California to just under 2,000 vehicles a week this year and he expects to see Tesla sales climb to 400,000 or more in the next couple of years as more model variants are added to the range.
