2015 Kia Carnival scores four star safety rating

Disappointing ANCAP result for new Kia Carnival…

The just launched new 2015 Kia Carnival has been awarded just a four-star ANCAP safety rating.

In what’s sure to be disappointing news for Kia Australia, the Carnival performed poorly in the frontal offset test, which simulates a head-on crash, with ANCAP reporting that the people-mover left the driver exposed to a heightened risk of serious injury to the legs and feet.

The test also determined that there was excessive movement of the park and foot brake pedals and significant foot-well deformation.

Dash components were also a potential source of injury to the knees.

The new Kia Carnival also lost points for the lack of intelligent seat-belt reminders for the second-row fixed seats. ANCAP tell us that this is a mandatory requirement for a five-star rating.
