When it comes to selecting a people-mover car, there is a wide range of options on the market in 2014.

Kia has established a serious reputation when it comes to price and features, as well as quality over the past decade, and the Rondo is no exception.

The range covers three petrol engine and two diesel engine variants, all with automatic transmissions.

The 2014 Kia Rondo is a comfortable offering with the added advantage that it offers seven seats. Despite the Rondo boating less-than intimidating external dimensions, it happily accommodates seven adults in reasonable comfort with good leg and head room front and back.

It also boasts a generous cargo area when the back row seats are folded down, but with the three rows of seating in use, the cargo space is very limited.

Our test car had a 1.7 lt diesel engine under the bonnet, and coupled with a six-speed automatic transmission it delivers adequate, but not sparkling power.

The body shape is pleasing, and the range of standard features is impressive.

The Rondo features remote central locking, power windows and mirrors, reverse camera and parking sensors, good sound and climate control systems, nice seats that will fit most shapes and sizes, well laid out instrumentation and controls, (one regret is that Sat-Nav is only available on the top spec version).

One very interesting innovation is the aircraft style tray tables for rear seat passengers.

The suspension is well tuned, but tends to be a little less tolerant when traversing speed humps. But the trade-off is that the steering is positive and responds happily when going around curves and bends.

Build quality is excellent and Kia’s confidence in the quality is backed up by a 5 Year/ unlimited kms warranty.

Safety is well catered for with air bags, side intrusion protection, ABS brakes, and a range of other features.

Summing it up, the Kia Rondo is a very good package which delivers value for money, reasonable performance and many handy features.
