Behind the Wheel names Volkswagen Golf 2014 Car of the Year.
After completing dozens of new car reviews in 2014 the Behind the Wheel team has judged the Volkswagen Golf as Car of the Year.
The seventh-generation Golf beat home a strong field of finalists to take the award, including; Citroen Grand C4 Picasso, Porsche Macan, Isuzu MU-X, Audi RS6, Kia pro_cee’d GT and Subaru WRX.
The Volkswagen Golf was judged best car of 2014 after best fulfilling our judging criteria - value for money, safety, quality, fuel economy, design, practicality and enjoyment to own and drive. Behind the Wheel editor Joel Helmes says the Volkswagen Golf is an extremely adaptable and impressive offering.
“The 2014 Volkswagen Golf range starts from just $21,490 and even at this end of the range you get genuine German build-quality and design, a terrific little turbo-charged engine and enough room for five adults.”
“Then through the range there are wagon variants, a convertible, an optional diesel engine, and of course the extremely sporty and just as impressive GTI and R models.”
“There truly is a Volkswagen Golf for just about every Australian new car buyer.”
