2011-2015 Volvo S60/V60 recalled

Possible fluid leak issue found in Volvo petrol engines…

A recall of Volvo S60 and V60 cars sold over a five-year period in Australia has been initiated Volvo Cars Australia.

The recall affects MY 2011 to MY 2015 Volvo 60/V60 cars fitted with a 1.6 litre petrol engine.

The affected vehicles carry a VIN within these ranges:

  • S60 - 001139 to 369491
  • V60 - 001085 to 272166

The recall is being overseen by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC).

According to the recall notice, a small leakage of coolant fluid may occur during engine warm-up under certain driving and climate conditions, such as high acceleration or engine load immediately after cold start, especially in cold climates.

A warning message will appear in the display.

In the worst-case scenario, this may result in an oil seepage, causing a smell or smoke.

If the oil seepage reaches a hot surface this could result in a slow developing fire within the engine compartment.

Affected owners will be contacted by mail and asked to contact a Volvo dealer directly.
