Draft Load Restraint Guide unveiled

Draft Load Restraint Guide unveiled

Updated advice on securing loads released

There’s a draft version of an updated National Transport Commission (NTC) Load Restraint Guide now available.

Unveiled today and available to access here, the NTC says their new guide has been designed to provide drivers, operators, and other participants in the transport chain of responsibility with practical advice on how to safely transport a load.

This is the first time update for the Load Restraint Guide since 2004.

NTC Acting Chief Executive, Dr Geoff Allan, tells us the agency is seeking feedback on the draft guide to make sure it is clear and user friendly.

“We have listened to our stakeholders who have told us the biggest issue is that the current guide would be easier to comply with if it was easier to understand,”

“Items falling from trucks can cause collisions, deaths and injuries and contribute to congestion and environmental damage.

“The aim is to improve freight operators’ understanding of how to properly restrain loads.”

Consultation on the new guide is open until 5pm on Friday the 4th of August 2017.
