Top-spec BMW M4 coming
It won’t be cheap, and nor would you expect a top-line BMW M car to be, however Australian enthusiasts are sure to respond with plenty of enthusiasm for the 2018 BMW M4 CS.
The CS, or Competition Series, will be the new flagship M4 variant and will be priced from $211,610.
BMW aficionados will know that the CS nameplate is not something new, it was first seen back in the 1960s and made a return with the M3 CS in the middle of the last decade.
BMW confirmed the model back in April, until now though we didn’t know if it would be coming to Australia.
Powered by a tweaked version of BMW’s 3.0 litre twin-turbo six-cylinder petrol engine – the BMW M4 CS boasts a hefty 338kW/600Nm and a sub-4 second 0-100km/h sprint capability (3.9 seconds).
Other enhancements that set it apart for a ‘regular’ M4 include:
- Lightweight sports suspension
- Light-weight alloy wheels
- Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres – 265/35R19 (front), 285/30R20 (rear)
- Beefed-up brakes
- Carbon-fibre body enhancements
- Minimalist interior
- Sports seats
- Bespoke paint colour options
BMW Australia boss, Marc Werner, says the company is expecting strong demand for the M4 CS.
“From its uniquely aggressive appearance to its additional performance over the M4 Competition, the BMW M4 CS is a worthy hero for the recently-updated M4 range.
“Lighter weight and more power ensure an even more dynamic drive than the M4 Competition, but with additional everyday capability and luxury than the M4 GTS.”
