There’s an updated version of the BMW M2 about to land in Australian dealerships and with the styling tweaks and new features comes a slightly higher starting price.

The two-model grade line-up now kicks-off from $93,300 for the M2 Pure, that’s a jump of just over $3,000 over the MY17 version of the lower-spec model.

The “standard” M2 price also jumps just under $700 for MY18 with a new starting price of $99,900.

Justifying those additional costs is the addition of Adaptive LED headlights (M2 Coupe), as well as the updated iDrive6 infotainment/connectivity system.

Some of the exterior and interior tweaks in the MY18 update include new driving light design, new LED taillights (seen below), redesigned instrument display, and updated sports seats.

While BMW say they’ve also listened to feedback on the M2’s indicator stalks – these have been redesigned to ‘snap’ into a locked position.

Powered by BMW’s 272kW straight-six engine that provides up to 500Nm (on over-boost), a seven-speed auto transmission remains as standard on the M2, while a six-speed manual remains a no-cost option for 2018.

2018 bmw m2 rearBMW Australia boss, Marc Werner, says the MY18 M2 is ready to continue the model’s local success.

“Since its 2016 introduction the BMW M2 has quickly established itself as an award winner (including Behind the Wheel Car of the Year 2016) – and now it is the best-selling BMW M vehicle in Australia for 2017,”

“The 2018 M2 further defines the vehicle’s premium attributes while ensuring the motorsport-derived driving experience remains at its core.”

2018 BMW M2 Pricing:

  • BMW M2 Pure Coupe – from $93,300
  • BMW M2 Coupe – from $99,900
