BMW celebrates strong January 2017 sales

BMW looks set to have another record breaking year in 2017 with sales in January up 6.8% on the same month last year.

In total, 163,288 BMW, MINI and Rolls-Royce vehicles were delivered worldwide.

  • BMW sales were up 7.2%, totalling 143,553
  • MINI sales grow 3.7% to 19,563

Sales stars for BMW in the first month of 2017 were the X1 rose (+40.2%), 3 Series (+6.3%) and 7 Series (+29.8%).

There were also positive results for BMW electric/hybrid vehicles.

Deliveries were up 115.8% on the same month last year with 5,232 BMW i and BMW iPerformance vehicles handed over to customers.

In Australia in January, BMW sales totaled 2,104 (+1.4%) and MINI started the year 8.4% ahead with 286 sales.

Sales and marketing chief at BMW, Dr Ian Robertson, says further momentum is expected to come from the upcoming launch of the all-new BMW 5 Series.
