Car buyers steer back to fun colours

After years of flat and somewhat boring paint colours being most popular among car buyers, in 2017 we are seeing a return to more interesting shades.

Leading automotive paint supplier BASF Coatings has just released its annual Colour Trends Report and blue is definitely the colour on the way up.

The report looks at car paint colour trends and recommends the colours the car makers should have on offer over the next five years.

BASF head of design, Paul Czornij, says blue is on the up.

“Blue continues to gain strength as an automotive colour,”

“It has a calming effect and a strong correlation with natural things.”

White and neutral colours have dominated over the past decade.

BASF has responded to the increase in demand for blue and produced new tints that we will most likely see on our new cars in coming years, including a dark navy blue and a mild turquoise blue.
