Airbag issue sparks second MY17 Volvo recall

Another recall involving airbag issues for current Volvo cars…

Just two months after a separate recall that related to possible airbag issues with MY17 Volvo models, another airbag related recall has been initiated.

This time Volvo S90, V90 Cross Country and XC90 vehicles are affected.

2017 Volvo Side Airbag Recall – Affected Vehicle VINs:

  • S90 – 011536 to 017772
  • V90 Cross Country – 000098 to 005222
  • XC90 – 150614 to 175024

The latest Volvo airbag recall is being overseen by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC).

The recall notice advises that bolts holding the inflatable curtain in place could be affected by a manufacturing error that may cause the bolt head to detach, subsequently not fully securing the inflatable curtain in place.

What are the hazards?

In case of an accident, the functionality of the inflatable curtain may be decreased.

Known owners will be contacted by direct mail and owners should contact their local Volvo dealer to have the affected bolts replaced at no cost.
