2017 Honda Civic scores top safety rating

ANCAP confirms the Honda Civic is a five-star rated model…

It was a finalist for our Car of the Year last year and now the very impressive new Honda Civic has achieved a maximum five-star ANCAP safety rating.

Confirmed today by ANCAP, the maximum safety score will apply to all variants of the Honda Civic other than the Civic Type R.

The advice from ANCAP at the moment is that for now the Nürburgring front-wheel drive lap record holding car will remain “unrated”.

As always, we will bring you further news on that as it comes to hand.

In regards to the regular Civic, ANCAP reports that the model scored an overall score of 34.68 (out of 37).

The model achieved full marks for head/neck and upper leg protection in frontal offset testing.

The Civic scored 3.45 points out of 4 for chest protection and 3.30 points for lower leg protection.

And in side impact tests the Honda model qualified with top scores in head, abdomen and pelvis protection, while the chest protection score came in at 2.93 points (out of 4).
