Popularity of classic Volkswagen vans on the up

It’s more than a hobby, and more than just a collectible item – the classic Volkswagen bus has become a phenomenon.

Not that long ago you get a good VW bus for very reasonable money, now however the prices are just rocketing up.

We’ve seen good examples sell for about $100,000 in Australia.

Now, this beautifully restored 1967 Volkswagen T1 is about to go to auction in the UK and is tipped to fetch about £90,000.

That’s more than $150,000 Australian dollars!

Going under the hammer at the Bonhams Collector’s Motor Car auction, the bus boasts a brand-new engine, extensive bodywork and paint restoration.

While on the inside there’s an Alpine surround sound system, DVD player, internet connection and plush new seating.
